Raw Materials: Solo Exhibition by Visual Artist Nikos Moschos in Cyprus

For Moschos, time is not linear: past and present coexist, provoking the creation of a new reality.

November 11, 2024

Stand in Line Gallery in Nicosia is presenting, for the first time to the Cypriot public, a solo exhibition of works by Greek visual artist Nikos Moschos, titled Raw Materials.

Art historian Giorgos Mylonas writes about Moschos and his exhibition that the artist’s entire body of work “balances between the metaphysical and the real. It is complex yet sincere, subjective but never egocentric. His compositions are not ‘easy to digest’ and are not meant for the hurried viewer. Reading his work requires time, calm, and focus. His language is rich, distinctive, and often demands the viewer’s own interpretive input. His great gift, however, is that he can converse effortlessly with an international audience.”

Mylonas also notes: “For Moschos, time is not linear: past and present coexist, triggering the creation of a new reality. Time becomes fragmented, multifaceted like a mirror where images intertwine, subjecting the viewer to multiple networks — luminous distortions of space and time, each with its own autonomy, materiality, and life.”
